Have You Heard About The Equal Parenting Bike Trek?

Several Michigan Fathers will be pedaling bycycles 758 miles from Lansing, Michigan to Washington, D.C. The event... known as the Equal Parenting Bike Trek. The purpose? To raise awareness that children need both parents. The 2007 Equal Parenting Bike Trek was a smashing success! Review the complete media coverage of last year's event. 2007 Equal Parenting Bike Trek - Pictures.

The 2008 Equal Parenting Bike Trek is already shaping up to be bigger and better than our 2007 event.

"A grueling 758 mile cycling trek to raise awareness of a child's fundamental right to be loved, guided, educated and nurtured equally by both fit and willing parents."

Five Michigan fathers will pedal their bicycles 758 miles from Lansing, MI to Washington, D.C.

Robb MacKenzie - Upper Penninsula of Michigan - US EPBT Founder - 2007 cyclist

Robert Pedersen - West Michigan - 2007 Runner-Up Winner in Best Life Magazine's National Hero Dad Contest, Co-Founder of A Child's Right - 2007 cyclist

Brian Downs, Esq. - Grand Rapids MI - Running for Judge in Kent County MI in 2008

Derek Bailey, MSW - Traverse City MI - American Indian. Founder of Dance4Equality

Mike Saxton - Lansing MI - Dads of Michigan

Michigan Advocates continue to progressively advance equal parenting into the mainstream political and media channels. Many of the Michigan family organizations have taken a stance that equal parenting should be the status quo for fit, willing, and caring parents without government interference.

Make Sure That Equal Parenting is on the Political Agenda

Equal Parenting should be on every political agenda possible. Attending political events is essential in making our issues truly visible. Last week I and many other equal parenting advocates attended the Oakland County Republican Convention. Precinct delegate seats were taken with several equal parenting advocates in the County of Oakland which truly represents 1/10th of the States population...

Just this week Dave Taylor, Mark Havas, and myself presented House Bill 4564 and House Joint Resolution NN to the Scottish Rite (Masonic Temple) in Madison Heights.

Together we all can get Equal Parenting on the political agenda. Whether it be calling into radio stations, writing letters to editors, or ministering to the public, we have an obligation to make Equal Parenting popular. Working together to follow-up on these major political issues is essential. See you all at the next event.

Michigan Legislators That Support the Importance of Parenthood

Several Michigan Representatives have demonstrated that they indeed support the importance of parenthood and have declared it in writing before the legislature.

An Amendment to amend Article I of Michigan's Constitution (1963) and that "PARENTS AND LEGAL GUARDIANS HAVE A NATURAL AND FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT TO DIRECT THE CARE, EDUCATION, AND UPBRINGING OF THEIR CHILDREN. NO GOVERNMENT ACTION SHALL BURDEN, ABRIDGE, OR HINDER THIS NATURAL, FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT UNLESS IT IS IN FURTHERANCE OF A COMPELLING GOVERNMENTAL INTEREST AND IS THE LEAST RESTRICTIVE MEANS OF FURTHERING THAT COMPELLING GOVERNMENTAL INTEREST."

Any Dishonorable ANTI-Family Representatives that are against this bill should not be reelected and the following Honorable Reps including John Stahl should be honored publicly for being supportive of the most basic building block of society:

Fulton Sheen, Glenn Steil, Tim Moore, Edward Gaffney, Joe Hune, Joel Sheltrown, Rick Jones, Kevin Elsenheimer, Jacob Hoogendyk, John Stakoe, Tom Pearce, John Garfield, Jack Brandenburg, Philip LaJoy, David Law, Marty Knollenberg, Tom Casperson, Arlan Meekhof, Kim Meltzer, Neal Nitz, David Agema, Daniel Acciavatti, Brian Palmer, James Marleau, Tory Rocca, Frank Accavitti, Darwin Booher, Paul Opsommer, Bill Caul, Coleman Young, Barbara Farrah, Kevin Green, Dave Hildenbrand, Chris Ward, Craig DeRoche, Jeff Mayes, Robert Dean, Brian Calley, John Moolenaar, Dudley Spade, Tonya Schuitmaker, Bruce Caswell, David Robertson, Phillip Pavlov, Richard LeBlanc, Kathleen Law, Goeff Hansen, Bill Huizenga, Fran Amos, Judy Emmons, David Palsrok, Howard Walker, John Espinoza, Lee Gonzales, Lorence Wenke, Gino Polidori, Bettie Scott, Terry Brown, Gabe Leland, Gary McDowell, Lisa Wojno, Ted Hammon, Rick Shaffer, Hoon-Yung Hopgood, Michael Lahti, Andy Coulouris, Shanelle Jackson, John Pastor, Mike Nofs, Kenneth Horn, John Proos, Kathy Angerer, Bert Johnson, LaMar Lemmons, Richard Ball, George Cushingberry, Bob Constan, Ed Clemente, Chuck Moss

Equal Parents Week Rally! Be There!

This mammoth luxury bus will be at the Lansing State Capitol Building from 8:30am to 11:30am on September 26, 2007 to support equal parenting! Will You?

CRISPE, Dads and Moms of Michigan, the Family Rights Coalition, A Child’s Right, Children Need Both Parents, Fathers for Equal Rights, Fathers-4-Justice, Parents for Children, Children’s Rights Council invite you to join us in defense of the traditional American family at this historic rally at our State Capitol during Equal Parents Week. Over 40% of Michigan’s population is being micro-managed by the family court system with disastrous consequences to our children, families and the state economy. Help transform Michigan from a wasteland of broken families into a promised land of healthy families and community renewal.

House Bill 4564, a bill to ensure equal parental responsibility, will result in a presumption of joint custody for fit parents and equal access for children to both their mother and father. Hearings on this bill are expected this fall. Your attendance at this rally will send a strong message in support of HB 4564 and serve as a demonstration of our will to be equal parents to our children.

The Equal Parents Week Rally has been organized to bring to the attention of our legislature, our executive branch, our judiciary and the general public that Equal Parenting is a civil rights issue whose time has come. America’s success was built on strong family bonds and the recognition that both a mother and a father are essential to raising healthy, moral and well adjusted children.

Equal Parenting Symposium a Success

What we are facing today, much like others in the past, is a simple civil rights violation. This is how you get heard... Let your legislators know that you are fed up and not going to take it anymore! Demand equal rights and equal treatment, meaning equal access to your children!

The Equal Parenting Symposium was a success and will be airing on local public access television in the coming week around the metro Detroit area. The most recent symposium was in the City of Pontiac, in Oakland County. Politicians, Professionals, and interested citizens from all over the state appeared for presentations by Jim Semerad (Dads and Moms of Michigan), Dr. Michael Ross (Family Rights Coalition), Lary Holland (Family Court Problems), Jay Fedewa (Family Rights Coalition) and Minister Ronald Smith (Children Need Both Parents, Inc.).

As video becomes available, it will be uploaded and shared here! Also an audio podcast will be available later this week of the speeches that were given and available for sharing and download. This event was a success and even more people are now educated about the funding mechanisms of our Friend of the Court systems, the steep rewards that are provided for the creation of absent parent households, and the devastating effects of family court on our economy.

Thanks for the Family Rights Coalition, and the other members of the symposium for helping make this event such a success!
